Panther Creek State Park Family Session: Three Generations in East Tennessee Autmn

There are some sessions that feel less like work and more like a gift, and this one at Panther Creek State Park was exactly that. Photographing three generations of girls—grandmother, daughter, and granddaughters—was such a sweet honor, especially because these aren’t just clients; they’re friends I’ve been blessed to make since my own family moved back to East Tennessee in the past few years.

Taylor, the daughter in this beautiful trio, recently returned to the United States after living in South Asia with her husband & daughters, faithfully serving the Lord. Getting to know her & her little family during this new season of life has been such a joy, and capturing these images felt so meaningful.

Her mother (affectionately known as Gigi) is a native Californian and was THRILLED to hop on a plane to come visit. She laughed at how easy it felt to board a 4 hour flight compared to the 40+ hours of travel it used to take to visit Taylor’s family in South Asia. To have her daughter and granddaughters back on the same continent again is a blessing she doesn’t take for granted.

And what better place to soak up those precious moments than Panther Creek State Park? The East Tennessee autumn showed off that day with golden leaves, rich color, and soft, flattering light drifting through the trees. The girls played among the fall foliage, Gigi soaked in every moment with her granddaughters, and Taylor looked radiant standing between her mother and her daughters—three generations together in one beautiful frame.

As I photographed them, I felt grateful not only to document these memories but to witness them: a family reunited, a grandmother’s joy, a daughter having a bit of home (her mom's loving hugs), and the peace and beauty of East Tennessee wrapping around it all.

Sessions like this are why I do what I do.
